Junior Critique

This mini-collection was created in my Junior Critique class. I have named it RS Guise (Rubber & Steel Guise). It was inspired by the roads in Chicago that I travel on every day in my commute throughout the city. I wanted to play with line and movement when I set out to create these pieces. I achieved this through using rubber bicycle tire inner-tubes which were woven and sewn to create interesting lines on my garments. I also used beads on accessories to add movement and bling.

History of Dress

I created this Dominican Catholic Stole to be gifted to our school's ministry. It includes embroidery bearing a Tudor Rose to signify our schools motto of "Love and Truth." I also hand beaded the rose and the school shield in the back with gold beads.

Textile Science

This piece was created for a course on textile science. It was inspired by origami cats my sisters and I would make when we were little.

Surface Design

This piece was created for a Surface Design Class. We dyed and quilted cotton fabric to make coats, then added detail by hand painting The tops were made using found objects. I created my top by knitting plastic garbage bags into a halter top style. I then wove in beads and pine needles. The skirt was made using real leather that was de-glossed and then dyed purple. I created it's 3D effect by weaving strips of leather through triangle-shaped slits on the fabric.
